Varsha Kamat
Varsha Kamat has a Doctoral Degree in Indo-Portuguese History and presently is a Professor in the Department of History in an affiliated college of Goa University. Has completed successfully, research projects dealing with comparative study of Portuguese and British colonialism in Indian sub-continent and demographic study of 20 th Century Goa, funded by University Grants Commission, Government of India. Recently, completed the Project on unsung heroes of Freedom struggle from the State of Goa, which was funded by Ministry of Culture, Government of India. At the moment, engaged in an ongoing research project on History of Goa (From Pre-historic to 1961 CE.), sponsored by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa. Worked as an Expert Member on the panel set up by Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), Government of India, New Delhi, to review the contents of Dictionary of Martyrs, 2021. A regular contributor to various seminars and symposia dedicated to the Goan history, culture and society, Portuguese colonialism and Periodical Press and has several publications including books.
