Duarte Braga

Duarte Drumond Braga is a researcher, lecturer and poet (b. Lisbon, 1981). FCT CEEC Junior Researcher at the Center for Comparative Studies, CEComp (University of Lisbon) from 2019 to the present. Assistant Professor of Portuguese Studies at Macau University of Science and Technology (2018-2019). Postdoctoral fellow at the University of São Paulo's School of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences (2014-2018), Brazil. He holds a Phd (2014) and an MA (2006) in Comparative Studies from the School of Arts of the University of Lisbon. Graduated from the same university's Program in Portuguese Studies. From 2006 till this date he has been a researcher at the U. Lisbon's Centre for Comparative Studies. He has published several edited volumes, journal issues and articles on Portuguese orientalism and Goa and Macau literatures in Portuguese. Other of his research interests are Portuguese (language) literature from Romanticism to Modernism, in particular poetry. He coordinated, with Hélder Garmes, the project Relocalizar o Modernismo em língua portuguesa, supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2017-2019) and is currently the coordinator of PORT ASIA - Asian Writing in Portuguese: mapping literary and intellectual archives in Lisbon and Macau (1820-1955), a project funded by FCT (Portuguese Research Council). Two of his latest works are O Percurso Plural de um Poeta e Intelectual de Goa [The Plural Path of a Poet and Intelectual from Goa] (São Paulo, Alameda, 2020) and As Índias Espirituais. Fernando Pessoa e o Orientalismo Português [The Spiritual Indies. Fernando Pessoa and Portuguese Orientalism] (Tinta da China, 2019).
