Daniela Spina is a FCT Junior Researcher at CHAM - Centre for the Humanities, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. In 2020, she got her PhD from the Universidade de Lisboa, with a comparative thesis on Goan literary historiography published under the colonial rule. Her doctoral project, where the colonial periodical press plays an important role, was granted, first, by the Universidade de Lisboa (2016), and then by the FCT (2017-2020). She has a master's degree in Modern Comparative Postcolonial Literatures from the Università di Bologna (2014) and she studied also at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2012-2013). Since the times of her master, thanks to scholarships and other types of financial grants, she had the opportunity to spend research periods in India. She researched at the University of Delhi, the Nehru Memorial Library and Museum, the Xavier Centre for Historical Research, and the Goa State Central Library "Krisnhada Shama". After her PhD, she worked in different Portuguese public schools, where she taught Portuguese and Spanish, and worked as a freelancer translator as well. In the academic years 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 she worked as a Temporary Lecturer at the Università di Verona, Italy, lecturing Textual and Comparative Studies and mentoring master's students. She's a collaborator of the research group ORION - Portuguese Orientalism and a former member of the exploratory project granted by the FCT PORT-ASIA Asian Writing in Portuguese: mapping literary and intellectual archives in Lisbon and Macau (1820-1955), at CEComp (FLUL). She also works with the Thinking Goa group of the Universidade de São Paulo and she's also a member of the Executive Committee of the IGSCP-PE, assisting the research work of the group throughout 2023.
