Célia Reis
Célia Reis holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities – New University of Lisbon, with the thesis O Poder entre Lisboa e o Oriente – Persistências e Mudanças na Administração do Ultimatum ao Ato Colonial (The Power between Lisbon and the East – Persistences and Changes in Administration from the Ultimatum to the Colonial Act). This work received the Fundação Oriente - Ambassador João de Deus Ramos Award, awarded by the Navy Academy (2019). She is a teacher in Torres Vedras and an integrated researcher at the History, Territories and Communities – Centre for Functional Ecology, a hub of the same Faculty. The essential areas of study are Colonial History (particularly of the East), the end of the Monarchy/First Republic, the Misericordies and the opposition to the Military Dictatorship. He has published four books, publishes regularly in specialized magazines and participates in many events on History. Among these publications are the book O PAdroado Português no Extremo Oriente na Primeira RepÚblica (The Patronage Portuguese in the East in the First Republi)c and the article “A Extradição de Macau para a China no início do Século XX. Práticas Coloniais entre a Afirmação e a Manutenção” ("The Extradition of Macao to China at the Beginning of the 20th Century: Colonial Practices between Affirmation and Maintenance" (Excellence Award (thesis category) of the 5th Edition of the Prize for Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences and Macao, organized by the Macao Foundation in conjunction with Social Sciences in China Press).
