Tyrone Fernandes

Tyrone Fernandes is an independent researcher who holds a postgraduate degree in History from Goa University. His research focuses on the history of cinema in Goa during the early to mid-twentieth century. He examines the emergence and sustenance of cinemagoing in Goa, as well as the impact of State regulation on both domestic and international films and cinema theatres. He also examines the elitist and oligopolistic control over the exhibition of films in Goa during this period. His research aims to understand how the development of cinemagoing in Goa in preceding decades contributed to the formation of a Konkani cinematic identity in the mid-twentieth century.
