Maria Raquel P. Roxo
A PhD candidate in Heritage Studies, she has been developing research focused on the Goan periodical press, analysing heritage narratives related to Portuguese‑influenced heritage in Goa. Her research interests lie in Critical Heritage Studies and Postcolonial Studies, exploring the relationships between discourse, power and memory.
She holds a Master’s degree in History and Heritage from the University of the Algarve (2021), where she received a distinction of excellence for her dissertation “Promontório de Sagres – European Heritage Label: Heritage Narratives”, a critical study of the symbolic and political dynamics associated with the Sagres Promontory. She has published on topics such as Orientalism as a discourse of power and the connections between the heritage landscape of Sagres and the legacy of slavery in Lagos.
