Consisting of former exiles from Portugal and the former Portuguese colonies, their descendants and academics, the panel had a reflective and theorising intent, based on their lived experiences and/or studies. Its non-binding script included the following topics:
- The impact of the Portuguese dictatorship on the creation of anti-colonial and anti-fascist oppositions and resistances in exile. Networks and fractures arising from the priorities and levels of struggle of the various players.
- The personal experience of exile and the importance of the press as a means of circulating ideas and creating networks of solidarity with the host countries and between the various political families, against the dictatorship and colonialism.
- The role of the anti-colonial and anti-fascist struggle in the building of the various democracies and in the fulfilment of anti-fascist and anti-colonial programmes. Decolonisation and post-coloniality.
- The resulting archives, their validity and relevance as heritage and memory for a better future.
